For the Birds

• Select and learn about an architect and a bird species.
  
• Design and build a birdhouse. Include essential design elements utilized by your chosen architect that are appropriate for your bird.

• Study examples by your chosen architect and make notes about key design elements he or she uses. Incorporate 
• one or more of those elements into your birdhouse.
• Make a series of sketches before finalizing your design. 
• Tailor the design to your chosen bird’s needs. Consider the overall scale and shape, the size of the entrance, and more.
• Select materials you have access to and that are compatible with your design and your bird’s preferences.
• When you’re finished, install your birdhouse near your home or school. 
• Keep watch to see if anything moves in! 

Design a birdhouse for birds you regularly see near your home. Work with materials you find in your recycling, such as cardboard boxes.
