How does Prints for Nature use art to advocate for endangered species?
Ami Vitale is a renowned nature photographer. She believes in art’s ability to unite people for a cause. Recently, Vitale and others started a fundraiser: Prints for Nature. They sell photos and give the profits to Conservation International, which protects endangered habitats.
Vitale contributed her photo above to the cause. It depicts Kenyan wildlife keeper Lekupania embracing an orphaned baby giraffe. Though the giraffe was rehabilitated and returned to the wild, giraffe populations across Africa have declined by as much as 40 percent in the past 30 years. Prints for Nature aims to raise awareness about the dangers facing vulnerable species, like the giraffe, today.
