The Tragic Life of Edvard Munch
This artist found inspiration in misery
This biographical story introduces Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The painter experienced tremendous heartache throughout his life. Tragic events and intense emotions inspired the artist’s expressive works and revolutionized the way he painted ordinary people. In his work The Sick Child, Munch experiments with texture to show a memory. In The Dance of Life, he uses color to express love and the passing of time. In Anxiety, Munch paints with chaotic brushstrokes to convey a feeling of paranoia.
