When building the lifelike fox, above, with Lego® bricks, German artist Felix Jaensch (YENSH) found inspiration right outside his window.  A fox lives near his home and prowls the neighborhood on warm summer nights.

When Jaensch constructs an animal,  he begins with the eyes. “They are the most important part of a creation,” he says. After the eyes, Jaensch builds the rest of the head and then the body. If he doesn’t have a real-life model, the artist references photographs of his subjects.

For Jaensch, Lego bricks’ geometric shapes are no hindrance. In fact, he enjoys building “smooth organic forms with those angular bricks.” The figures aren’t perfectly realistic, but they’re pretty close. “Details may matter, but the overall impression is more important!” Jaensch explains.
